In Ultimates 2 we’ve seen the team formed by Galactus to help him liberate
Eternity from a mysterious entity. Ultimates 2 #6 revealed the entity is called
the First Firmament. Writer Al Ewing had the idea of Eternity being chained from
the start but as he was working on the story he read an old issue of Grant
Morrison and JG Jones’ Marvel Boy where he discovered the First Firmament, an
entity seven generations younger that Eternity. When it was around there was
just one universe and then a cosmic war created the multiverse. Its goal is to
reverse all that one way or another. #6 brought back Emmett Proudhawk, the Psi-Hawk,
who was part of the 1980’s New Universe line of books and the rest of the Psi-Force.
Ewing was a big fan of the entire New Universe deal and says that the Psi-Force
will stick around long after the current arc is done. #8-#9 will deal with the
Eternity War and add to the cast Ego the Living Planet, the High Evolutionary,
and the Maker. #9 will actually be Ultimates #100 (Marvel is renumbering a lot
of books) and involve the current team and the original one in a 30-page story. |
