Global Force Wrestling has announced that Jeff Jarrett was taking an indefinite
leave of absence from the company to deal with personal issues. The leave was a
sudden thing since he had posted on Twitter he was eager to go to work and was
going to host a party for the company staff at his home that day. The issue has
been brewing for a while. He had a screaming match with Bob Ryder at a
television taping. Matt Hardy’s wife Reby revealed she had gotten unprofessional
drunk text messages when she made public the dispute over the Broken Hardy
intellectual property conflict. Things all came to a head at this year's
TripleMania where he was obviously not in shape for wrestling and stumbled down
the ring steps. He did little in the match and since Ed Nordholm, Executive Vice
President of Anthem Sports & Entertainment was there he made the call to remove
Jarrett. The deal that had Anthem buy control of the company isn’t working out
well since they aren’t making much money with the current TV deal with Pop TV.
So rumors have the company looking for a buyer again and all eyes are on WWE
since they could get the rights to matches with A.J. Styles, Samoa Joe and Bobby
Roode. When Dixie Carter was in talks with WWE in the past the WWE only wanted
the company for the tape library. The deal would also allow the WWE to use the
Broken Hardy gimmick. Strangely enough the paperwork on the GFW merger with
Impact Wrestling isn’t done yet so the sale talks would be under the Impact
Wrestling name. With Jarrett gone creative is being run by John Gaburick (who
was in charge under Carter), Scott D’Amore, and Sonjay Dutt. This puts in
question how long Karen Jarrett and Bruce Prichard will be around. |
