Mark Hunt was taken out of his UFC Sydney fight against Marcin Tybura due to health concerns and he isn’t happy about it. Hunt says he is healthy and medically fit to fight but UFC President Dana White and the UFC are trying to push him out for being a whistleblower and pushing for tougher sanctions on performance-enhancing drug abusers. The UFC countered that Hunt was removed from his fight because of concerns about his health following comments he made in an article that appeared on Player’s Voice. He told the website: “Sometimes I don’t sleep well. You can hear me starting to stutter and slur my words. My memory is not that good anymore. I’ll forget something I did yesterday, but I can remember the crap I did years and years ago. That’s just the price I’ve paid – the price of being a fighter. But I’ve fought a lot of drug cheats and copped a lot of punishment from guys who were cheating and that’s not right.” Hunt went back to Player’s Voice with a new article, A Message to Dana White and in the article he states that he passed two medical checks before the fight, one of which was from a neurosurgeon. He says UFC can test him anytime they like and that his brain is fine but UFC is being cautious due to what Hunt said. He has three fights left on his current contract.
