In
his weekly advice column, Inside Al's Head, former WWE talent Al Snow discussed
the idea that some talent, specifically Neville and Nia Jax are unhappy with the
nonstop grind of working there. He posted, “Everybody cites the travel as the
biggest stress when you’re working for WWE. Without a question or a doubt, it’s
hard. You give up a lot of your personal life because you’re on the road, and
it’s certainly not easy, but that’s not the real issue.” The grind creates a lot
of physical and emotional stresses: “Let’s say you’re on the road for five days,
but you get to go home for a day-and-a-half but you’ve got to go right back out
for another four-and-a-half days. Then you’ll be home for a day-and-a-half. Then
you’ll be gone for seven days. Then you’ll be home for four days, and then
you’ve got to go back out. You wake up early in the morning, because after 9/11,
you have to catch every flight as early as possible in the event you miss that
one or it’s delayed.” Once you get off the plane you have to find something to
eat, check in, work out, drive to the arena, wait around then do a 15 minute
match then go back to the hotel and try to find food before you crash. So you go
to bed, check out of the hotel and start the process all over again. And if you
are a star then the pressure of staying at that level creates even more pressure
because someone is always ready to take your spot. Snow doesn’t regret anything
he has ever done during his career but he wants fans to understand how hard the
business can be on someone. |
