In
Avengers: No Surrender we leaned that Bruce Banner was alive and instead of
being Incredible, the Hulk was now Immortal, Al Ewing and Joe Bennett’s new
ongoing series Immortal Hulk will return Banner to Earth but in the new series
the character will be horror based. Bruce Banner will travel from town to town
during the daytime but at night the Hulk will become an instrument of justice
and vengeance. To understand the various changes with the Hulk fans need to pick
up Avengers #684 which sets up the series but Ewing says if you don’t it will
not affect how you perceive the new series. In the first issue Bruce Banner will
be seen walking the Earth with his return something rumored but not confirmed.
His path will be determined by Hulk to right wrongs, bring justice and atone for
Banner’s sins. According to Ewing in the series it is quite possible to kill
Banner but at night the Hulk will rise up and remember who killed him. The
series will have as a member of a new supporting cast reporter Jackie McGee, who
learns that Banner may be alive and starts tracking him. Of course Banner
doesn’t want to be found. The book will have Walter Langkowski, aka the
Sasquatch, who needs Banner to help him with some personal issues along as well.
The two did know each other in college and when Walter starts becoming more
vicious he decides to seek out an old friend.
