The Titans series will be one of the first projects seen
on the new streaming service DC Universe but it’s not the only live action
series planned for the new service. The producers of Gotham are working on a
series called Metropolis. The show ended up on the service when Fox passed on
the series. Metropolis will follow Lois Lane and Lex Luthor as they investigate
the world of fringe science and expose the city’s secrets before the arrival of
the Man of Steel. A live action Swamp Thing series will be on the service along
with the animated series Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders. Swamp Thing
will be executive produced by Aquaman’s James Wan. Battlestar: Galactica’s Mark
Verheiden and IT’s Gary Dauberman are attached to co-write the series and act as
showrunners. The show will follow follows CDC researcher Abby Arcane who returns
to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly
swamp-borne virus. She develops a bond with scientist Alec Holland who is then
tragically taken from her. As powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on
exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties, Abby will discover it holds
mystical secrets both horrifying and wondrous – and the potential love of her
life may not be dead after all. DC Universe is expected to start in 2019. |
