When
the Beast brought the younger versions of the X-Men into the present day in
All-New X-Men #1, he created major issues in the timeline. The team hasn’t
returned to their time period so as to continue the threats of now instead of
then. But time has a way of dealing with anomalies and their continued presence
here may put every mutant in the Marvel Universe at risk. In August Ed Brisson
and Pepe Larraz will resolve the issue in the five-issue limited series X-Men:
Extermination. Brisson will use the event to explain why the original five have
to back to the past after being confronted by adult versions of themselves from
a severely messed up future. The Original Five will be the main focus of the
series but we will see some characters from the past have yet important roles.
To help the Original Five, X-Men Red, X-Men Gold and a reunited classic X-Force
team will be along for the ride as well as some new characters. The villains of
the series are Ahab, who has come from the future with his horde of mutant
trackers and a mysterious figure helping Ahab in hunting down the Original Five
for reason not yet explained. Brisson says that not every X-Man is going to make
it out of the story alive and the conclusion will be a major shock.
It all begins with EXTERMINATION #1 (OF 5) which is currently scheduled to ship
