THE FUTURE OF HELLBOY IS BRIGHT

The Hellboy Saga Continues Without Migola's Direct Influence

The end of The B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know limited series brought Hellboy back from the dead. It seemed to be the last Hellboy story but we all know it wasn’t. Mike Mignola had suggested he was going to paint and so some personal projects but as is the case with life things change. He knew he wasn’t going to draw anything other than the covers for Devil but create a body of work beyond Hellboy. That involved him drawing a political cartoon after the Parkland school shooting in Florida. He also worked on a non-Hellboy thing that he scrapped after getting 19 pages done. So while he isn’t drawing any Hellboy projects any time soon Dark Horse Comics did announce three new titles connected to the Hellboy universe. The first book is the five-issue Crimson Lotus miniseries featuring Lobster Johnson from Mignola, John Arcudi and Mindy Lee. The series will cover 30 years of her life. The five-issue Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1956, from Mignola, Chris Roberson, Yishan Li, Mike Norton and Michael Avon Oeming will show an early Hellboy mission. The year end Hellboy Winter Special 2018 will contain a Mignola and Ben Stenbeck story, Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá’s B.P.R.D.: Vampire and a Tonci Zonjic story about Lobster Johnson.
