Doctor
Who returns on Sunday October 7th with the first episode airing on BBC America
simultaneously with the series BBC debut. This means in Eaglad they will be
watching it during their Prime Time while here it will air at Noon. BBC A merica
will then rerun the episode seven hour later in it's regular Sunday Night
timeslot. That's right, Sunday night-the show is moving this season out of it's
Saturday slot to the new Sunday slot. This will bring the Doctor into
competition with Walking Dead on AMC and Sunday Night Football on NBC.In other
news at Comic-Con International the new female Doctor Who Jodie
Whittaker, new companions Tosin Cole and Mandip Gill and executive producers
Chris Chibnall and Matt Strevens held court on two panels about what to expect
during the new season. Chibnall said the idea of a female Doctor was long
overdue and they were happy to sign Whittaker. The fact that she is female will
affect some of the situations she finds herself in but when all is said and done
she is the Doctor. The new season will bring in one of the first writers of
color on a Doctor Who series, two female writers and three male writers in the
guest writer slot, two female directors and two male directors and most of the
show’s editors will be female. Her assistants this season will not be called
companions, but friends. Fans expecting old allies and enemies will be
disappointed since we will see all new monsters and villains. The season will be
self contained. Whittaker was deeply involved in coming up with the new look of
the Doctor since she sent him hundreds of pictures of costume concepts. The
season was announced as 10 episodes but Chibnall confirmed that there will be a
Christmas episode. |
