Marvel
is bringing back two older concepts. They released four teaser images of the
Hulk, Namor, Silver Surfer and Doctor Strange but didn’t explain why. Then
Marvel announced the creative teams for a series of Defenders: The Best Defense
one-shots. We will see four one-shots with the four characters and a conclusion
under the heading of The Best Defense; Immortal Hulk: The Best Defense (Al Ewing
and Simone Di Meo); Namor: The Best Defense (Chip Zdarsky and Carlos Magno);
Doctor Strange: The Best Defense (Gerry Duggan and Greg Smallwood); Silver
Surfer: The Best Defense (from Jason Latour); and The Defenders: The Best
Defense (Ewing and Joe Bennet). All five will be released in December. We had
been made aware of a Marvel Knights revamp celebrating the 20th anniversary of
the imprint but didn’t know what the project was going to be about. Some thought
it was going to be a line of comics overseen by Thanos’ Donny Cates. The project
has been announced as a six-issue series. Talent attached to the series include:
Matthew Rosenberg, Tini Howard, and Vita Ayala and they will tell a story using
Daredevil, the Punisher, Black Panther, Elektra and other heroes on a mission to
figure out a mystery that could affect the entire Marvel Universe. A recently
announced detail suggests that Matt Murdock has forgotten who Daredevil is.
Travel Foreman is drawing the first issues and the second issue will be drawn by
Niko Henrichon but the other artists haven’t been named. The covers for the
series will be from Geoff Shaw with Jae Lee drawing variant covers for the
series. The revamp will be helped with a series of variant covers in the same
fashion of the Return of the Fantastic Four variant covers.) |
