Justice
League #8, from James Tynion IV bought back Starman. Not the James Robinson
version but Will Payton. The idea of bringing this version of the character back
was an idea Tynion and Scott Snyder came up with. So Tynion went back and read
most of the Payton stories from the late ’80 to get into the idea that there was
a major conspiracy that began at the beginning of the universe. We have seen
hints of the Legionnaires Club and the group that it was formed from in the
first arc of Justice League, the Totality. Using the Payton version made the
most sense since he was involved in experiments that tried to delve into the
cosmic unknowns of the DCU. The cosmic energy inside of Starman is tied to the
Totality and so when he uses his powers he will be connected with the basic
energies of the universe. His story is just another part of the mystery being
set up that will lead into a much larger story. #8 also marked the return of the
Batman who Laughs who has a plan that no one is even close to figuring out. |
