European Imprint Expands into the American Superhero Market

Humanoids hired John Cassaday and Mark Waid as executives then announced H1, a new shared superhero universe. Creators involved include: Cassaday, Waid, Carla Speed McNeil, Yanick Paquette, Phil Briones, Afua Richardson, Vanessa Del Rey, Dennis Calero, Shawn Martinbrough, Jock, Mike McKone, Andrea Mutti, Darick Roberston and Alberto Albuquerque. Humanoids had until this only done science fiction and fantasy graphic novels but for their 20th Anniversary in America panel at New York Comic Con, the publisher unveiled the new imprint. Humanoids’ new Chief Creative Officer John Cassaday and Humanoids’ new Director of Creative Development Mark Waid will work with the creators on the various series of the imprint. H1 will begin in the summer with three ongoing series and a multiple limited series. None of the series has creators listed but they include the ongoing titles Ignited (as the world is plagued with natural disasters powered individuals are appearing); Omni (about a doctor given higher brain functions so she can find the truth behind the Ignited) and Strangelands (two strangers forced to stay close to avoid the destruction of the planet). The limited series include: The Big Country (a sheriff in Texas trying to find a serial killer); Meyer (about Jewish mobster Meyer Lansky as he’s trying to organize his very last con job) and Nicnevin and the Bloody Queen (as a modern-day druid commits a series of murders his latest would-be victim turns out to be more than she seems).
