 The
Justice League: Drowned Earth mini event is just the beginning of something much
larger on the way. It is being written by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV, who
are also doing two specials that bookend the event. The long lost sea gods were
brought back by Legion of Doom after the death of Poseidon. Part of the event
also comes from Batman: Metal where Aquaman and Deathstroke went to the center
of the Earth to find a repository of Nth Metal and found machinery set up by
Arion. One major machine is a huge part of the event. Fans will see echoes from
No Justice in both Drowned Earth and Witching Hour since both
set up how magic works in the DCU now since it seems to be unbalanced.
Everything is all part of a major event that both are working on that we will
not see until at least the summer. But after Drowned Earth ends in November
Justice League #14 will tell the full story of what happens when Hawkgirl,
Martian Manhunter, and John Stewart arrive on Thanagar Prime looking for clues
about the Totality. #17 will reveal more of the secret history of Lex Luthor,
Martian Manhunter, Mars and all we learned on Thanagar. #18 will reveal the
secret history of the Legionnaires Club and their formation. Snyder is already
writing #21 for a Jorge Jimenez arc dealing with the Sixth Dimension and the
history of DC Crises, and yes, Snyder said DC Crises.
