FOX HAS POST TAKEOVER PLANS Posted: 111718
The Wall Street Journal has laid out the fate of 20th Century Fox once Disney’s takeover of the studio is complete in the summer. Disney will release any movies from the studio that are completed or in the middle of production when the deal is finished. It isn’t clear if projects in development will happen or whether Disney will even continue to use the Fox brand. It is a given that there will be thousands of layoffs next year. The Avatar sequels and the X-Men”/”Fantastic Four properties will be folded into the Disney brand without issue. The new adaptation of Call of the Wild with Harrison Ford is safe but James Mangold’s Ford vs. Ferrari film may not happen. The Fox 2019 releases like Death on the Nile and The Woman in the Window are likely to become Disney releases. The divisions Fox Searchlight and FOX 2000 will remain intact. The TV series adaptations of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Ice Age and Night At the Museum are still a go. The article also says Fox is in development on a second Simpson’s movie, a Bob’s Burgers film and a Family Guy movie that will mix both animation with live action.
