Marvel
Comics' Champions is going international. Jim Zub will be joined by his Wayward
partner Steven Cummings on an expanded team. The new incarnation is made up of
14 heroes; five from the previous run and some surprise additions. The original
mission statement for Champions was "The World Still Needs Heroes" and the new
one is "The World Still Needs Heroes, and There Are Heroes All Over the World."
So Ms. Marvel puts out a call and a huge number of teen heroes from around the
globe have responded. So Amadeus Cho, Kamala Khan, Miles Morales, Sam Alexander
and Viv Vision will be joined by Amka Aliyak (Snowguard), Nadia Van Dyne (Wasp),
and Riri Williams (Ironheart). And Fernanda Rodriguez (The Locust), Joaquin
Torres (Falcon), Lana Baumgartner (Bombshell), Rayshaun Lucas (Patriot), and
Victor Alvarez (Power Man) will become full time members along with an East
Indian boy code-named Pinpoint. He is capable of creating teleportation portals
that can take people around the world instantly. Zub has been told to challenge
the team every issue and so he will go big every chance he gets. He has the idea
of making Champions Marvel’s version of the Legion of Super Heroes. So the team
will expand as it goes on with a X-Men member joining in #3 and other teen
heroes coming in depending on the threat. Zub says the end of #1 has something
huge happening that will be dealt with in #2 but hit home with #3 and #4 will
turn over the chessboard.
It all begins with CHAMPIONS #1 which ships with
two standard covers and is currently scheduled to arrive on New Comic
Wednesday-010219 with a $3.99 cover price. As always it will be
Alternate Reality "1st Day Sale" priced at 25% OFF ($2.99!) on
