The six-issue House of X and Powers of X limited
series will be written by Jonathan Hickman starting in July. Pepe Larraz
will draw House and R.B. Silva will draw Powers. Before he decided to return
to Marvel Hickman thought about what the X-Men line needed and one of the
first things he decided is that the issues needed more content and some new
characters. In the Mark Brooks promo art we saw a woman with metallic skin
like Colossus holding Magik's Soulsword who kind of looks like Dani Moonstar.
One had Nightcrawler's body, but had red skin. We also saw the revived
Charles Xavier, flanked by Cyclops, Marvel Girl (Jean Grey), Magneto and
Wolverine but wearing costumes from different eras of X-Men history. That
suggested to some fans that Xavier chose X-Men from different eras but
Hickman says he is not telling a story that deals with time travel or one
involving an alternate universe. And when the two limited series begin the
current X-Men line will end right before the limited series launch to
provide a smooth transition for readers. So the creators of those books were
told to do any kind of story they wanted with no limits but Hickman warns to
not assume that what happens in those books will be ignored. Hickman’s two
series will tell different stories. House of X will tell a story about a
pivotal month in the history of the X-Men where everything changes for
mutants on Earth. Powers of X will be the story about the history of mutants
in the Marvel Universe. And threads from each series will connect with each
issue. Once both limited series are done then an entire new universe of
X-books will launch and those titles will be introduced at San Diego during
the convention. Hickman says some will be traditional books, some will
follow the events of the limited series and some will be completely new
concepts. He will be writing the ongoing flagship X-book. In 2020 the wave 2
books will debut and at the moment creative teams are being hired. (Credit
