USADA announced that Diego Sanchez has accepted a
three-month sanction for a violation of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy after testing
positive for prohibited substances. He tested positive for two banned products
found in out-of-competition urine sample he provided on December 12, 2019.
During the investigation Sanchez provided containers of products he was using at
the time of the test for analysis at the World Anti-Doping Agency-accredited
laboratory in Salt Lake City, Utah. There were no prohibited substances listed
on the supplement labels but the banned products were found when they were
tested. So since it wasn’t his fault under the rules he had to take a three
month break but he wasn’t guilty of a violation which is bizarre but those are
the rules. The trace amounts found within the products Sanchez was using was
minor and couldn’t have enhanced his performance. Sanchez’s sanction was back
dated so he could get booked for fight in March.
