After
UFC 246, Felice Herrig was walking down the Las Vegas strip when she ran into a
drunk and chaos ensued. She has been in town for two weeks rehabbing her
surgically repaired knee at the UFC Performance Institute. She told MMA Junkie:
“Yeah, that was really weird. That was the start of my Vegas journey, and it
wasn’t my fault. I feel like people in Vegas are crazy. She stopped traffic to
pick up a penny! Literally a penny. And I called her out on it.” She continued
to walk but, “Three minutes later, there’s somebody behind me saying, like, ‘The
penny was on heads!'” And I’m like, ‘I do not give a sh*t.'” So at this point
Herrig goes silent because she is considering her options. She doesn’t want to
punch the drunk since she’s a UFC fighter and didn’t want to ruin her recovery
but the woman kept getting in her face asking, “What are you going to do about
it?” Herrig’s response was, “I’m not going to do anything about it unless you do
something about it first. If you punch me, I will defend myself. And she punched
me. And I had to defend myself, so I punched her back really hard.” The two had
a brief back and forth then the woman ran away after she had enough. Herrig was
left with a bloody nose because the woman head-butted her during the scuffle.
