Unwritten
writer Mike Carey and Dirk Gently’s writer-producer Arvind Ethan David will
explore the depths of hell for their new IDW book Darkness Visible. The
six-issue limited series will be drawn by Brendan Cahill and Livio Ramondellia.
The concept behind the series was to make a movie about a world where demons
have been coexisting on Earth with humans for about 80 years. The interaction
has been different depending on the human who encountered the demons. In the
story the demons are the last survivors of a universe that surrendered to death
millions of years ago. Our world has everything they want but the demons that
have come here don’t have a physical existence. They’re just energy and can’t
come through into our universe without help so they find a host that they
promise everything to. After helping us in World War 2 they were given a place
to live and a voice in the future of our world even though both sides don’t
really trust one another. The story will be told in two-issue arcs with a
standalone historical story in #3 and #6 that will show how the Shaitan and
humans have intertwined through the centuries. The main character in the series
is Detective Daniel Aston, who will be the one standing between the demons and
humanity. Aston is a leading operative of the anti-Shaitan division of the
London Police. The title will also feature his daughter, Maggie, who will do
something that will change her father’s life by having him make a deal to save
her. |
