Neal Purvis and Robert Wade have been tasked to
write the next James Bond film. The duo has worked on the films since The World
is Not Enough. Their job has been to lay out the story and either finish it or
have someone else come in and complete the script. On Spectre they had Bond
remain a spy but the studio decided differently and now they have to bring him
back. So far Daniel Craig hasn’t decided whether he is going to return but there
are rumors he will do at least one more film. We don’t even know what studio
will release the film since the rights to the franchise are out for bidding.
Five studios are in the running for distribution rights. Sony wants to keep them
but Warner Bros., Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox and Annapurna Pictures
want in. Any deal would be for just one film since MGM is considering a sale or
public offering so a longer deal would complicate that. Bond 20 may be directed
by Sherlock’s Paul McGuigan. |
