Joss Whedon has decided not to write and direct a Batgirl
film for Warner Bros. Pictures. The film was to have been a part of the DC
Extended Universe but with the fallout after the poor showing of Justice League
it had an uncertain fate. Whedon had been developing the project for about a
year released this statement: “Batgirl is such an exciting project and Warners/DC
such collaborative and supportive partners, that it took me months to realize I
really didn’t have a story. I’m grateful to Geoff and Toby and everyone who was
so welcoming when I arrived, and so understanding when I… uh, is there a sexier
word for ‘failed’?” All is not lost for Warners since the test screening for
Aquaman was well received by the studio. |
