American Crime’s John Ridley's Other History of the DC
Universe limited series had already been delayed and now its been cancelled. DC told retailers all orders for the first issue of the miniseries
have been canceled. The series was to have begun in the winter of 2018 then was
pushed back until Jan. 2019. But according to Newsarama the 1st issue and the
series will be re-solicited at a future date. The anthology series would have
had a new artist with each issue to explore various iconic moments in the
history of the DCU but from the perspective of heroes representing different
disenfranchised groups. The first issue was to have dealt with the origins of
Black Lightning, with the following issues starring Karen and Mal Duncan, Katana
and Renee Montoya. When the project was first announced it wasn’t part of the
new Black Label imprint but was added to the other projects after the imprint
was created. The first issue of Batman: Damned featured a nude scene involving
Bruce Wayne and the line has been silent ever since save for the second issue of
Damned. Rumors suggest The Other History of the DC Universe will look nothing
like what the project was announced to be and be more of a poster book. |
