After much speculation and hints all over the Internet
we now know the next project from Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. The sequel to
Dark Nights: Metal will be called Dark Nights: Death Metal and stars Wonder
Woman in a world where the Batman Who Laughs has taken over the world. Death
Metal will spin out of the events of Snyder's Justice League run and Year of the
Villain: Hell Arisen. DC has spoiled the end of Hell Arisen by revealing the DCU
will become consumed by Dark Multiverse energy because of The Batman Who Laughs
and the Infected. And in an attempt to defeat him Wonder Woman takes an
important piece of information, which she will use to recruit Earth's remaining
heroes to take a stand against The Batman Who Laughs, the Infected and Perpetua.
Snyder says the limited series will connect to everything even Geoff Johns and
Gary Frank’s Doomsday Clock and is in his words “an anti-Crisis.” Death Metal #1
will ship on 5/13, #2-3 will ship in June and July, and then issues #4-6 will
ship in September, October and November. Snyder says that the event will be the
final conclusion of his superhero work but that he isn’t leaving DC. In artwork
released by DC we have seen Wonder Woman carrying a new weapon that looks like a
chainsaw because it’s called the chainsaw of truth.
